Abstract
Each member of a random sample of 175 undergraduates (85 females and 90 males) received 1 of 8 workshop descriptions and was asked to respond to questions regarding the description. The counseling workshop descriptions were varied on the type of workshop, attributional basis, focus of effect. Ss' help-seeking attitudes and behaviors were examined using logit-loglinear analysis with regard to the 3 workshop description variables and Ss' sex and coping level. It was found that help-seeking attitudes were related to S's level of coping and content of the specific workshop offered and that a positive attitude was associated with an interaction between the attributional basis and focus of effect used in the workshop description. Actual help-seeking behavior was a function of the interaction of S's sex and the focus of effect used in the description. (33 ref) (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved).
