Thermophysical parameters for the solution of helium in the solid and liquid phases of nickel are obtained by computer simulations using the embedded atom method for interatomic interactions and molecular dynamics techniques. Excess entropies of solution are also evaluated for the appropriate statistical mechanics models of solid solutions and liquid mixtures. Theoretical predictions of the helium solubility are made and compared to measured values reported in the literature. It is concluded that these measured values are far too high to represent equilibrium solubilities.
