Abstract
The effects of coupled reaction channels on proton elastic scattering from 12C in the energy range 60-183 MeV are studied. The back couplings from (p,d) channels are found to be larger than from inelastic channels, and the effects of all back couplings decrease with energy. Near 60 MeV, analysis of the revised optical potentials needed to refit elastic-scattering data shows a clear preference for folded deuteron potentials in the intermediate channels of the calculations.
