Abstract

Not all fixed-film process types are equally applicable for wastewaters containing hazardous organic chemicals. Factors that determine process selection include chemical class and concentration of hazardous chemical, type and concentration of other organic material, and treatment goals. Process variables include redox state, attachment medium, and loading rate.
