abstract = "This study examines the role of facilitation in supporting the qualitative coding process for a Technical and Professional Communication (TPC) research team comprised of individuals with diverse professional positionalities. We present a three-phase case study involving a practitioner and an academic analyzing a transcript, with a third member serving as a facilitator. With both academic and practitioner experience, the facilitator assisted the coders in using double-definitional codes that captured their individual perspectives and encouraged critical reflection on the coders{\textquoteright} differing understandings. This approach honored the coders{\textquoteright} perspectives by sustaining rather than collapsing their positionalities and by inviting reflection about normative coding practices. This study highlights the benefits of implementing facilitation into qualitative coding to sustain difference, foster understanding, and reposition outcomes.",
