Abstract

Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (REMPI) of nitric oxide has been investigated at high resolution. A number of doubly-enhanced transitions have been assigned and their transition frequencies measured. The enhancing states are the A 2Σ state and high-lying Rydberg states between 65000 and 67000 cm−1 in energ. Two-photon transition strengths for the A 2 Σ-X2 π states were calculated and compared with the high-resolution REMPI spectra.
