Abstract

We discuss the Hegselmann-Krause model for opinion dynamics in discrete-time for a symmetric confidence bound. We construct an adjoint dynamics and use it to define a Lyapunov comparison function that decreases along the trajectory of the opinion dynamics. Using the Lyapunov comparison function, we develop a novel upper bound on the convergence time of the dynamics.
