Abstract
This chapter discusses the social influence processes in drug offer contexts and follows the authors’ development the keepin’ it REAL: Refuse, Explain, Avoid, Leave (kiR) programme, a substance use prevention intervention comprised of ten, 50-minute lessons to enhance communication competence and social and emotional learning, teaching resistance skills, risk assessment, decision making, social support and conflict resolution while targeting drug norms and expectancies.
