Abstract

This article delves into the conceptual controversy between two terms that describe quality in global technical communication: consistency and localization. This controversy becomes particularly troublesome and leads to problematic practices when information products are created with component content management strategies and technologies. The analysis of this controversy is based on the results of two separate studies. The author suggests more precise terminology to address this controversy and improve theory and practice of multilingual component content management.
