Abstract
The terrorist attacks of 11 September 2001 devastated the US in a manner that it had not experienced in 60 years. In truth, the events leading to 9-11 seem to indicate an interaction of oversights, which, in concert, compromised security. A semiotic model is used to explain some of what went wrong prior to 9-11.
