Assistance to Navajo Chapter Houses on Renewable Energy Development Assistance to Navajo Chapter Houses on Renewable Energy Development This project will leverage the work we completed under the funding we received from the 2017-2018 U.S. Economic Development Administrations (U.S. EDA) Assistance to Coal Communities. For that project, ASU and NAU collaborated with the Navajo Nation Division of Natural Resources and the Navajo Nation Land Department to present four regional outreach and education workshops over June and July 2018 on utility-scale renewable energy potential opportunities, challenges, and considerations. These regional overview workshops took place in Kayenta, Tuba City, Crownpoint, and Nenahnezad Chapter Houses, with officials from various chapter houses, business owners, farmers, and interested residents in attendance. During these workshops, we presented broad concepts and the potential for utility-scale solar development. Our proposed project will help local governments on the Navajo Nation to develop their renewable energy potential to maximize benefits to local communities. This next step will require that we develop entirely new materials and host events in new contexts and locales.
