Collaboration, capitalization of organizations, leadership, capacity building, humanistic management
Dr. Castillo studies capitalization of organizations, focusing on the role that intangible assets (e.g., social, cultural, political capital) play in producing social and financial returns. She conducts research on how organizations generate, convert, and exchange tangible and intangible resources. Her typology of capitals systematically categorized these resources and the activating processes by which they are mobilized and converted. Her research is inspired by her 20-year management career in nonprofit and social enterprise organizations.
